What resources do you recommend for deploying Revu 21?

Is there a way to bypass the Terms and Conditions in deployments, so there is no prompt when launching Revu for the first time?
Unfortunately not. There must be a manual acceptance of the End Users License Agreement (EULA).
Can I prevent the Default PDF Choice prompt in deployments and set Revu as the default automatically?
Microsoft has changed how default applications are selected in Windows 8 and above, which results in the BB_DEFAULTVIEWER setting being overridden. This means that your users will have to follow the steps in Changing the Default PDF Viewer. Further information can be found on the Microsoft website.
For Windows 8 and earlier, use the following modifier:
BB_DEFAULTVIEWER | Set as the default application (default) = 1, Do not change the default = 0. See notes. |
Is it possible to merge the user's existing customization with a new deployment of Revu when uninstalling before running the Bluebeam UninstallScript?
You should be able to accomplish this with the Administrator application (PbMngr5.exe), which lets you back up, reset, and restore user settings via the command line. For this, I would refer to the Administrator Console Application section of the Bluebeam® Revu 21® Administration Guide.
When deploying Revu 21, does it install over the top of Revu 20 by default?
When doing an MSI deployment for an upgrade, unless the Uninstall Previous Version batch file (part of the deployment package) is run to unregister and uninstall the current version of Revu, Revu will default to a side-by-side scenario. When running the Uninstall script, this will remove the current version of Revu and retain everything in this folder:
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Bluebeam Software\Revu folder.
This folder contains the templates/profiles/tool sets/and Revu preferences on the machine. When the new version is installed, these will still be available to the user.
What is the script required for uninstalling/unregistering older versions of Revu?
The script for removing older Revu versions is included in the MSI package as Uninstall Previous Version.txt
. You must change the file extension to .bat and run with elevated privileges. This batch file will unregister and uninstall Revu (any version) on the machine). More information: Best Practices
Do settings carry over when migrating to Revu 21?
Profiles/tool sets/Digital IDs are retained during the upgrade process. These items can be backed up for good measure but are not needed when upgrading to a new version of Bluebeam Revu.
Is there a way to copy Digital IDs and Stamps in deployments?
Digital IDs cannot be copied. Regarding the Stamps folder and its contents, the contents of the folder can be backed up and found here:
C:\ProgramData\Bluebeam Software\Bluebeam Revu\<version>\Stamps.
Do note that by default, these should be retained when upgrading from point releases to major updates.
Do Line Styles and Hatch Patterns carry over to Revu 21?
If any Line Styles or Hatch Patterns were created for markups, this would also need to be backed up manually. More information can be found here: Line Styles and Hatch Patterns.
What is the order of installation for Revu and the OCR?
The OCR Module should install automatically. If OCR does not install, it can be deployed separately. See this article for more information: Error: “Revu’s Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software must be installed” | Revu 21
Can we update the optional parameters of Revu after the installation?
According to Bluebeam, the uninstall script for each minor update will be able to remove any previous release but is NOT required to run if you are updating to a minor release within the same version. This means all future MSI updates for Revu 21 can run on top of the previous Revu 21 installation. More information: Updating Existing Installations
Is it possible to automatically apply custom toolsets?
Custom toolsets can be applied during the deployment process. You would need to add a command line script to the deployment to add the toolset you'd like to be included. There is no way to automate this, it is a manual process. Refer to the Revu 21 Deployment Guide for more information.
Example command:
"C:\Program Files\Bluebeam Software\Bluebeam Revu\< RevuVersion#>\Revu\Revu.exe" /btximport:"U:\Temp\name_Toolset.btx"
