Question:

"What is the quickest way to reset licensing for multiple users?"

Solution:

This solution can be used:

  • From a shared network drive
  • Deployed by your IT department to automate the resetting of licenses
  • To troubleshoot an end-user computer (especially if multiple products are receiving a license error)
  • When transitioning from Network licenses to Named-User licenses

Setup:

  1. Download AdskLicensingSupportTool (always up to date)
  2. Unzip the folder to an accessible location
  3. For demonstration purposes, we'll be using:
    C:\Autodesk\Scripts

Using the tool:

  1. Press the Windows key to open up the start menu
  2. Type “Powershell” until you see “Windows Powershell” show up. Do not select the Windows Powershell ISE.
  3. Right-click on “Windows Powershell and select “Run As Administrator”

    1. Type the following, replacing the path with the correct one for your file location:
      cd C:\Autodesk\Scripts\AdskLicensingSupportTool
  4. Press Enter

Resetting the licenses:

Copy and paste one of the following codes, then press enter to run the tool.

Code for Resetting all Licenses to Named User:

This will bring up the Autodesk Account log-in screen when launching any product for the first time.

.\AdskLicensingSupportTool.exe -r ALL:USER

Code for Resetting all Licenses to Default:

This will bring up the "Let's Get Started" Screen when launching any product for the first time so they can select the activation method.

.\AdskLicensingSupportTool.exe -r ALL

Code for Resetting all Licenses to Network:

This will set all users back to network licensing.

.\AdskLicensingSupportTool.exe -r ALL:NETWORK

Confirming success:

When all is said and done, you should see an output log that looks like this:

Congrats! You're done, go ahead and launch the software to test the changes.
