You will need admin privileges to install the NLM.

Configure the Network License Manager

You should have a License File and the NLM installed by now. Read on for instructions to configure the NLM to use the License File. For our demonstration, our license file is saved to the desktop. We recommend keeping your license file on the following path: C:\Autodesk\Network License Manager\Licenses.

  1. Open the LMTools Utility
  2. On the Service/License File tab, select Configuration Using Services and check the LMTOOLS ignores license file path environment variables box
  3. On the Config Services tab, enter a name for the new service in the Service Name field
  4. Fill the following fields, using the Browse buttons to navigate to the below paths:

Path to the lmgrd.exe:

C:\Autodesk\Network License Manager

Path to the License file (may vary based on where you've saved the License File):

C:\Autodesk\Network License Manager\Licenses

Path to the Debug Log file (Don't see a debug.log file?):

C:\Autodesk\Network License Manager

5. Check the "Start Server at Power Up" and the "Use Services" boxes

6. Click Save Services

6. On the Start/Stop/Reread tab, click Start Server.

7. On the Server Status tab, click Perform Status Enquiry.

8. If everything is configured correctly, licenses should display as active.

Notes:

If no file is present, create a TXT file in Notepad and rename it “Debug.log.”

Update the Network License Manager

Occasionally, the NLM will release an update to accommodate license files with newer Autodesk software. To update the NLM, follow the steps found in Part I: Install the Network License Manager.
